Nooku Content 0.6.6 released

We are pleased to announce the release of Nooku Content version 0.6.6. This version is a bug fix release that addresses a number of issues that where reported by our partners. A few smaller features where also added :

  • Better language syncing. We have made a number of changes to the way Nooku Content handles it’s language syncing especially during installation of extensions. Nooku Content is now smart enough to sync modules that are installed as part of the installation of a packaged extension. For example, DOCman, or K2, etc ..
  • Better error handling. We re-worked our error handling to throw nice and meaning-full error messages when something goes wrong, for example when a language cannot be found.

If you want to see Nooku Content in action, you can find our team this weekend at the J and Beyond conference We are sponsoring the event and are also doing a Nooku Framework workshop on Tuesday.

Nooku Content is only available to our partners. By supporting us, you helps us to build quality open source software. In return you get a great extension, personalized support, and a voice in the development. If you want to learn more, discover our Partnership Program.

I come to this site about once a month in response to the Nooku propaganda machine continually reminding me about how bad Joomla is and how great nooku is…Yet all I find is a bunch of obfuscation… Is it available for download…or not…or is it a treasure hunt…or am I looking for the Wizard of Oz.

Guys, please make it clear what your doing – I am neither newbie nor expert programmer – Yet I am completely mystified by all this evangelism on many of my favorite joomla blogs about a framework where only a few zealots seem to have access. ( who of course confirm that God exists and the Nooku God is great)

Sorry if it sounds like your antagonizing me – but that is exactly what you guys are doing.

If your tactics are upsetting me..Its unlikely that some or many others aren't feeling the same way.

Six months later – I'm tired of hearing how great Nooku is – either make it readily available, charge for it or hold your damn peace.

Dear Jo, thanks for stopping by and for providing us with your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you are a bit confused about Nooku. Let me try to clarify. Nooku is made up out of :

    - Nooku Content, a multi-lingual content manager for Joomla that helps you translate your site in as many languages as you need.

    - Nooku Framework, a rapid application development framework to help you write better Joomla extensions faster and with less code.

Both Nooku Content and Nooku Framework are released under the GPLv2 license, but only Nooku Framework is publicaly available you can visit our Nooku Developer Portal (http://code.nooku.org) to gain access to the code.

Nooku Content is currently only available to partners and early adopters. If you are interested to learn more about pricing options you can fill in our partner request form : http://www.nooku.org/partners/become.html

I hope this helps to clarify further what we are working on.

    Hi Johan,

    very much appreciate you response.

hope you do see the underlying drift of my comments. I very much like some of the videos I have seen you in personally, but I think the Nooku promotion campaign leaves a lot to be desired. This wasn't meant to be a public rant and I am satisfied with your answer – so please free to delete these posts , and please look at your promotional strategy for Nooku.

    regards

Thanks Jo, no offense taken. If it's oké I would like to leave your post. The questions you posted and the answers might also be of interest to other people.

We are constantly striving to improve our communication. I can understand being a none-programmer Nooku Framework can be a bit mystified.

The framework is a tool for developers, and cannot be downloaded as an installable package. Instead you need to access it using SVN. A good tutorial on how to install Nooku Framework can be found here : http://blog.bedre.no/nooku/tutorials/installing...
