Nooku Community wins 4 J!OSCARS

On Saturday May 7th, the attendees of J and Beyond 2011 all gathered in the auditorium of Rolduc Conference Centre for the awards ceremony of the annual J.O.S.C.A.R.S – the Joomla Open Source Creative Artistic Recognition Awards.
This year we have had a record number of nominations and the international panel has had a very hard task in creating a shortlist. Voting took place during the conference by all the attendees with the winners announce in a star studded celebrity awards ceremony led Open Source Knights Sir Brian Teeman and Victor Drover.
Our Nooku community was awarded with not one but four awards in 3 different categories !

The Final Countdown to JAB11
J and Beyond 2011 is just around the corner. Nooku will take part in the biggest international Joomla event of the year. We are kicking it off with an awesome pre-event Nooku party! The 5th of May will definitely be a night to remember. Registrations for dinner are closed but feel free to come and join us at the bar for some drinks or hit the slopes.
The JAB11 programme has been Nooku-fied with four presentations from Johan, Stian, Tom, Gergo and Ercan.

Announcing the first Nooku Party
Joomla and the Knight of Open Source are putting up camp in Kerkrade, Netherlands on the 6-8 May for the second edition of J! And Beyond.
J! And Beyond is an community driven International Joomla Conference, which grew out of the vibrant community site All Together As A Whole. We’re proud that Nooku is once again sponsoring. This is the Joomla community event of the year, you don’t want to miss it!
Throwing a party
On of the things that made the first edition so special was the great atmosphere and camaraderie by all attendees. With a very international crowed coming to J and Beyond 2011 we thought it to be great to throw a little pre-event party on Thursday 5 May so that everyone could get the know each other in person before diving in on the 6th.
We could just all meetup in the bar or go to a restaurant. We wouldn’t be Nooku if we didn’t try to organise something, well a little bit more special. So … we are going skiing!
Nooku Extension Showcase Video
More and more Joomla developers are starting to use Nooku Framework for building powerful, extendible and secure Joomla extensions. The first generation of extensions is in beta and more extensions are being worked.
Just like the Joomla 1.5 framework caused a wave of innovative extensions, we believe Nooku Framework is going to cause a shift: It changes how you create and use extensions, how extensions work with each other or with external data, and how you customize extensions.
At J! and Beyond 2010 we, together with some of our Nooku Community Contributors and Partners showed some of the promising Nooku-powered extensions that are being built right now. Check out the video and take a sneak peek into Joomla’s future !

We’ll be giving two presentations: In his fun warm-up talk “Joomla to Infinity and Beyond”, Johan will be shedding new light on the amazing journey that is Joomla.
The next talk is for everybody who ever built a website using Joomla (yes, I know, that’s all of you!). We’ll explain why Nooku Framework matters to you, even if you’re not a developer. We’ll show you some of the promising Nooku-powered extensions that are being built right now.

We have a very special treat for those of you who eat and breathe code. On the third day, we’re doing an exclusive three hour Nooku Framework Workshop. This is your chance to dive into the API that will revolutionize the way you think about code.
Maybe you still think that plain Joomla is all you’ll ever need? Can you know for sure without having seen Nooku in action? We invite you to open your mind and find out for yourself. If you don’t like Nooku after the first half of the workshop, you’re free to leave. No hard feelings!
