September has been Nooku-fied
Two Nooku jams, two continents, one weekend! September was off to a great start start when Johan attended Joomladay Brazil, Tom attended Joomladay Hamburg and magic happened.
Nooku Jam Florianopolis
The Jam started at 6PM right after the closing video of the Joomladay Brazil. Johan rounded up a crew of 35 brave developers who were eager to stick around and all excited to dive into Nooku Framework. With most of the participants being new to Nooku, Johan focused the Jam on showing how easy it is to build a Joomla extension with Nooku Framework.
Johan started by demonstrating how you can create a fully working RESTful webservice with Nooku Framework with just one line of code. This set the tone for what was to follow. In the next 90 minutes, he built a fully working todo list component with tagging, logging, and versioning support.
One Weekend, Two Nooku Jams

The State of Nooku 2011
Past weekend, the Nooku Team was at the Dutch Joomladays, as both sponsors and speakers. The event sold completely out. Two days with 200 attendees each, that’s a lot of interesting people to meet. Very positive vibe and and superb organisation, one of the best Joomladays I ever attended. A big congrats to everyone who helped to make this happen.
We have a tradition of showing something new each year at the Dutch Joomladays, so Tom and myself were very proud to officially announce our Nooku Platform and present our second State of Nooku.
The Joomladays NL are coming!
It’s almost time for the Joomla highlight of the year, the Dutch Joomladays! This year they are taking place on the 2th and 3th of April at Kaapdoorn, near Utrecht.
The Joomladay in the Netherlands is the oldest and one of the most popular Joomla events in Europe: two days, hundreds of attendees, and lots of parallel sessions. Traditionally it has a great mix of newbies, organizations, and community members, which is the perfect recipe for inspiring discoveries.
We’re proud to announce that Nooku is once again sponsoring the Dutch Joomladays. Buckle up for a great ride because this year as we are not doing one but three presentations. So what are we talking about?
The State of Nooku
Last week, the Nooku Team was at the Dutch Joomladays, as both sponsors and speakers. There was a great turnout, the positive vibe and everybody was genuinely excited about the amazing innovations the Joomlasphere has come up with in the past year.
We have a tradition of showing something new each year at the Dutch Joomladays, so Johan and myself were very proud to officially announce our Developer Portal and present our very first State of Nooku.
Joomladay Italy & Nooku Demo Day

This is your chance to learn all about this exciting new framework from Nooku Lead Architects Johan Janssens and Mathias Verraes. The primary language will be English but the Beyounic Team will facilitate the communication, providing unplugged translation to and from Italian.
The event takes place from 13:30 until 18:00 and the registration fee is 15 euro to cover our costs. We have only 50 seats available, so register fast!
Nooku Framework launch at Joomladays Netherlands
The Nooku team was at the Joomladays in the Netherlands last week, both as sponsors and as speakers. The Dutch Joomladays are traditionally one of the biggest Joomla events globally, and this year was no different. Organised by Guido Jansen, the driving force of Dutch community site, the event hosted some 300 attendees and over 20 speakers, spread over two days.
Nooku hits the road
Last week we were invited by Eduvision to their annual Joomla! Conference to talk about setting up a multi-lingual website with Nooku Content and Joomla! 1.5.
During our presentation we touched on the how’s and why’s of multi-lingual websites and demo’ed Nooku Content 0.5.
The overall feedback from the crowd was very positive. People were excited about the many advantages Nooku Content offers over existing multi-lingual solutions in areas like usability, simplicity, performance etc …
Also, we were pleasantly surprised to hear how much people appreciated our effort to not only create a next generation multi-language solution for Joomla!, but also to demonstrate that a funded business model can be a great way to create GPL’ed solutions in true spirit of the licence.
Nooku Content Launched at Dutch Joomla!Day
Nooku Content was ’soft’ launched at the Dutch Joomla!Day. The interest in this Joomlatools multi-lingual solution has been incredible and, as a result, we’re confident it will soon establish itself as the preferred content translation solution for Joomla!
Marc Alen, of Belgium Local Police, presented a case study of his implementation of Nooku Content and Joomla! 1.5. While Marc says he’s working on a ’small project’ we beg to differ. Hundreds of installations, servicing the entire Belgium local police service ain’t small!
